I. The records on the floor still haven't put away. Five months inside this house living day by day. The plants in the window. The towels on our door. I've spent my whole life searching for more. Lay on the floor with your dog and pet her till she's sleeping. Learn to love the little things: to smile when she smiles. Learn to live simply. Learn to play it cool. Get out and see your friends. Stop worrying. II. Oh, sometimes I get caught up in the meant-to-bes and forget about the in-front-of-mes. Yeah, I'll scare my friends, and I wont even notice. Oh god, don't let me blow it. III. Go for a walk in the woods. Cut your hair, you'll look good. Just take the time that you need. Go for a drive in the car. You'll know exactly where you are. For every garden starts a seed, love, labor, and dirty knees. And for I, beneath the soil, hope roots deep within me. I'm not the books that I read. I'm not defined by my grief. Oh god, when I'm beneath the soil, hope gives me reason to breathe. Groundlessness is necessary, but it's both a weight and torch to carry.
